What it's all about!

A lot of girls want to know what this is all about. If you've read the "Our Story" link then you know that this isn't just taking fun photos with friends, but that it can go much deeper then that. Our group here in St.George Utah has evolved in ways we never thought. We started in the summer of 2010 with our first photo shoot. Starting with only 5 girls...since then we have had 26 girls become involved in our group and a few branch off to start their own groups. Only a few of us even knew each other in the beginning and the friendships that have been built through the past year have been amazing. Some of us came from having little or no friends at all...and now we've felt like we've met our kindard spirits. The love I have personally for the St.George group is much deeper then friendship, but a sisterhood. There is just something about coming together with a group of girls from all different shapes, sizes, colors, personalities and spirits that brings out the best in you. Some of the girls that have joined in struggle with self confidence, but the wonderful thing about this is being comfortable with yourself. Being in front of a camera, dressed up silly, acting silly, and not caring what people think is truly invigorating. Not only do the girls in the group make you feel like you are the only one in the world while you get your pictures taken, but the comments you receive by posting them for all to see on Facebook is so much fun.

I can't say it enough how much fun this has been for myself and for the rest of us girls. Obviously since we've been doing it over a year and continue to do it again and again each month. Every girl needs to get out and have fun. Doesn't matter what age you are, how many kids you have, what you look like, everyone needs to bring out their inner little girl and play dress up and take pictures. I always look at it as a girls night documented on film...and the laughs oh my gosh I have never laughed so hard and had so much fun.

Another thing a lot of girls may be hesitant to participate is because they may lack an awesome camera or photo editing skillz etc. That doesn't matter. Our group here in St.George is obviously blessed to have 2 photographers in our group, but you can make magic with any camera and some free editing programs. Infact we've done some of our shoots with just a point and shoot and I bet you can't tell the difference. Besides it never matters the quality of the photos, but how much fun and how creative you can get with the themes given. My favorite shoots done by other groups are probably the most simple. The same goes for costumes/outfits. If you ask any of the girls in our group how much time and money they spend on costumes it's really hardly anything. We only thrift and hand make everything. Since there are a lot of girls in our group we borrow a lot as well. You just have to get creative and have fun with it.

The MOST important thing is never take it too seriously. I can't stress that enough, don't let the deadline of getting photos done by the upload day, making sure the pics are top quality, and that they are creative enough get in the way of having fun! Our group has made a few mistakes like that, like rushing to get a shoot done before it gets dark, or waiting till the day before to do a shoot, but if that's the case don't let it ruin the fun of it either.

We encourage and are on a mission to have more groups from anywhere and everywhere join us! You don't even have to have a group, you can even join in the fun by taking portraits of yourself with the theme. It honestly only takes one photo before your friends start asking how to join. Every time we post a shoot we have someone ask if they can join. Have fun and "BE SILLY" for crying out loud!

Happy New Year!

It was a wonderful year full of Silly Girls Adventure. Time for Be Silly to begin. 2012 themes are up so join in this year! Upload to "Be Silly" Facebook page!
